Early detection of the disease in children.

By remembering the signs that her baby is healthy, the mother will notice any changes in his behavior, appearance, eating and sleeping habits, which may tell about a pathological condition that requires immediate medical care

Signs of Health.

---------------

Signs of health are found first in the healthy functioning of various functions of the body; regular requests made for its supply, neither excess nor shortage; and a similar regularity in its secretions in quantity and appearance.

If a healthy infant figure is observed, something can be learned from it. We will realize such a universal roundness in all parts of the child’s body so that no angle can be found in the whole figure; whether the limbs are bent or straight, each line forms part of a circle. The limbs will be firm, and unless they are bent, the joints cannot be detected.

The tongue, even in good health, will always be white, but it will be free of wounds. The skin will be fresh, the eyes will be bright, the complexion will be clear, the head will be fresh, and the belly will not to protrude, breathing is regular and easy.

When he wakes up, the baby will be cheerful and lively, he likes to play with him. He often bursts into a cheerful and happy laugh; while, in addition, when he sleeps, he will seem calm. Each line is composed. His face shows an expression of happiness, more typically, perhaps, lit up with a smile.

Only if the above manifestations are present and complete, we can say that health exists; and only to the extent of their partial or total absence, the disease will have usurped its place.

However, for clarity, we will study the signs of the disease as they are manifested by face, gestures, sleep, bowel movements, breathing, and coughing.

Out of capacity.

-------------------

In health, the child’s face expresses the serenity of mind and body; but if the child is sick, this expression is changed in such a way as to show to some extent which part of the system is at fault.

Eyebrows will be contracted, if there is pain, and her seat is in the head. Often this is the first external sign of something wrong, and it will happen at the very beginning of the disease; if you notice it at an early period, use the required remedies, then his opinion can prevent one of the most terrible childhood complaints “water in the head”.”

If this sign and the danger of the mentioned disease are ignored, the eyes will soon become fixed and fixed. The head will burn and move from side to side on the pillow, or it will settle on the nurse’s arm. The child will fall asleep, grind his teeth, he will wake up upset and scream. His face will be flushed, especially cheeks (as if crushed), his hands will be hot, but his feet are cold, his intestines are stubbornly inactive, or his meager movements have a dark and nauseating color.

If the lips are far apart, to show teeth or gums, the seat of pain is in the abdomen. However, this sign will be present only during the actual existence of the sufferer; therefore, if there is any doubt about its existence, squeeze the abdomen and notice the effect on the facial expression.

If the pain arises simply from irritation of the intestine caused by indigestion, it will be temporary and the sign will come and go by the time the spasm occurs, and simple corrective measures will bring relief.

However, if the disease is more serious and inflammation occurs, then this sign will be constantly present. Soon the face will become pale, or yellowish and sunken, the child will be afraid of movement. He will lie on his back with his knees bent on the stomach, the tongue will be loaded, breathing, while the chest will rise with more effort than usual, the abdominal muscles will remain completely calm.

If the nostrils are pulled and barrel, there is pain in the chest. However, usually, this sign is accompanied by inflammation of the chest, in which case the face will change color, the eyes will be more or less fixed, breathing will be difficult and in a hurry; and if the child’s breathing position is monitored, the chest will be observed motionless, while the tummy rises rapidly with each inhalation.

Convulsions are typically preceded by some changes in the face. The upper lip will be erect, sometimes bluish or irritated. Then there may be a slight squinting of the eyes, an individual rotation of the eye on its axis; redness or pallor of the face alternately; and sudden animation followed by weakness.

These signs will sometimes appear hours or even days before the attack occurs; they can be made insightful; and if they are noticed in time and using proper medical care, the attack can be completely prevented.

The condition of the eyes should be considered constantly. They are clear and shiny when healthy, but when sick, they become dull and make the face look heavy. However, when they are irritated for a long time, they get a fast rate and a kind of pearly shine that is noticed much better than described.

It is also important to direct the eyes because from this we can learn something. When an infant is brought to the light for the first time, both eyes are almost not directed to the same thing: this happens without a tendency to illness, and it simply proves that looking at something with both eyes is just a habit of learning it. But when a child reaches that age when the eyes are usually directed to the same thing, and then he loses this strength, this circumstance alone can be considered a frequent precursor of a disease of the head.

Gestures.

----------------

The gestures of a healthy child are all easy and natural; but in case of illness such deviations occur, which often tell about the type of disease.

Suppose an infant has learned the ability to support himself and keep his head upright; if the disease occurs, he will immediately drop his head, and this strength will be lost, to be restored with the return of Health; and during the interval, every posture and every movement will be the posture of laziness.

A small child who has just learned to run on his own from chair to chair has one or three teeth that squeeze and irritate the gums. They will completely break for a while, and, perhaps, lie quietly in his crib, or on the arm of his nurse.

Legs that are pulled to the stomach, accompanied by crying, are evidence of a disorder and pain in the intestines. Press on this part and your pressure will increase the pain. Look at the intestinal secretions themselves, and by their unhealthy character, your suspicions, referring to the seat of the disorder, are immediately confirmed.

The hands of a healthy baby are rarely held over his mouth, but there should be nothing wrong with the head and the existing pain, and the little one’s hands will be constantly raised to the head and face.

Sudden beginnings should never be ignored when waking up, as well as during sleep, although they occur for insignificant reasons. It is often associated with an impending brain disorder. This may portend a convulsive seizure, and such a suspicion is confirmed, if you find the child’s thumb attracted and pressed firmly to the palm. With fingers pressed to it, so that the hand can be forced to open without difficulty. The same condition will be present in the toes, but not to a significant degree; there may also be a swollen condition of the back of the hands and feet, the foot and wrist bent down.

There are other milder signs threatening seizures and related to the gesture, which should be taken care of: with the head pulled back rigidly, one arm is clasped to the side or near it, as well as one leg is pulled suffocating upwards. These signs, as well as those listed above, are confirmed, without a doubt, if there are some changes in the child’s habits. If sleep is disturbed, if there are frequent crying spells, great anger, the face alternately flushed and pale, sudden animation followed by such a Sudden Attack of laziness, gasping for breath. Followed by a long and deep inspiration, all the previous symptoms of an impending attack.

Sleep.

------------

A healthy infant’s sleep is calm, composed, and refreshing. At the beginning of childhood, when he is not at the breast, he mostly sleeps in his crib; and as the months progress, he sleeps less, when the hour of rest arrives, the baby hardly rests, falling into a calm and peaceful sleep.
